Six Months, a Creepy Doll, and One Happy Homeowner

Every homebuying journey has a story. This one had a few homes that got away, some ambitious asking prices, plenty of unexpected discoveries, and a creepy doll that apparently wasn’t planning to move.

After more than six months of searching, Jennie closed on her new home a few days ago. The joy at the closing table was the perfect ending to an adventure that gave us quite a bit of material along the way.

Great Offers, Disappointing Answers

We found homes she liked and submitted great offers. A few times, we still missed out.

That’s a difficult part of buying a home. Once you’ve walked through a property and started imagining your furniture in the rooms, it’s easy to begin picturing your life there. Hearing that another offer was accepted can feel personal, even when you’ve put your best foot forward.

After each disappointment, we regrouped and kept looking. My encouragement stayed consistent: keep going, stay positive, and we’ll work through this together.

Luxury Castle Pricing Meets Hobby Hut Reality

Other homes gave us a different kind of challenge.

Some sellers seemed convinced they were offering a luxury castle, while the home itself felt a little closer to a hobby hut.

I appreciate confidence. But there were moments when the asking price required more imagination than the property did.

Those showings gave us something to laugh about, but they also prompted useful conversations about value, condition, and whether a home made sense for her.

And Then There Was the Doll

When you tour enough homes, you see things you weren’t expecting. This search certainly delivered.

The most memorable discovery? One creepy doll that ended up staying with the house.

Most buyers think about whether the refrigerator or washer and dryer are included. A tiny roommate with an unsettling stare tends to get left off the checklist.

My professional advice on that one: keep an eye on her. If she starts changing rooms by herself, we’ve officially moved beyond my area of expertise.

Finding the Character She Loved

After all the searching, we found a home whose character caught her heart.

That was the detail that made this home stand out to her. After months of considering possibilities, she had found a place she wanted to make her own.

We continued working toward closing, and a few days ago, the moment we’d been waiting for finally arrived.

The home was hers.

The Closing That Made It Worthwhile

The pure joy of finally reaching closing was the best part of the entire journey.

After more than six months, all the searching, waiting, and regrouping had led to this moment. She could finally move from thinking about her new home to making memories in it.

Helping someone buy a home means sharing in the excitement, talking through disappointments, and staying involved as the process unfolds. Getting to celebrate at the finish line is what makes those months of work so rewarding.

Congratulations, Jennie! Thank you for trusting me through an adventure we won’t soon forget. Here’s to a home filled with laughter, happiness, and a doll that stays exactly where you leave her.
